To me  one of the best things about Second Life is the arts.  Not to take away from the refined talents of people like Gracie Kendall and Filthy Fluno,  art in the form of performance and Machinima are what I find the most intriguing . So I wanted to share this video made by musician and machinima artist ColeMarie Soliel with a performance by Skye Galaxy. I think you will agree it is a collaboration  by two incredibly talented artists  that shouldn’t be missed.  ColeMarie told me today that she’s editing  more Skye Galaxy vids to post here as soon as today.

Another talented artist is my friend Cypress Rosewood who is also a musician and also practices the “art of interviewing”  on his radio show When Worlds Collide broadcasting from his studio in Second life over Nashville Radio station WRFN every Monday at 7PMslt  (PST)    This week  12/21/09  he will interview  Skye Galaxy.  If you can’t listen or attend live he probably will have it up soon on his website even though  he’s been a bit behind on updating past shows on his website.. I’ve been bugging him about that.. Cypress!

Hola Música en Directo Ventila! — Hello Live Music Fans The Music of Mario Metsovaara Torrez known in Second life as  Arimo Teixeira is the mating of two Acoustic and/or Electric guitars. Both musically weaving in and out with one another. Thus, Arimo creates a new era of “Latin Fusion” & “Latin Americana” music.

Arimo was introduced to the Spanish guitar through his Mexican American family roots. At the age of five he began singing and playing with the guitar. While living with family in Belgium and Finland Arimo traveled Europe. There he was introduced to the Gipsy music of Belgium, France, Luxemburg, and the Netherlands. At the age of eleven he began performing on solo guitar while attending school in England.  Arimos  education included Classical and Contemporary music, such as Blues and Rock. For a man who plays “Latin Fusion” we were fortunate to find a Fusion of Latin sims called ” Costa Rica Sims”  http://costaricasims.com/ and more specifically  a spot that represents Costa Rica”s Las Baulas National Park ..Created in 1990 to protect Leatherback turtles from profit-making egg poachers, Marino las Baulas National Park is one of the foremost nesting sites for the leatherback turtle.  This area is also known for the excellent surfing.

In Second Life Giancarlo Takacs and team have developed  an incredibly beautiful  set of  sims  where we found a nice little Cantina by the Sea  ”La Tortuga Feliz” for Arimos performance and even if you cant make it to the  LnK  taping on Tuesday I highly suggest you visit these sims you will be glad you did.

My transplant mentioned in post below is successful.  5 days ago I went under the knife in a side by side surgery with my living exchange donor as planned.  Naturally I’m sore and I cant expect an instant recovery and %100 energy right away but the good news is my body has not rejected the transplant and the kidney is working as it should and the anti-rejection drugs are doing there job to keep my immune system from fighting off the new kidney.  As long as I follow Dr’s orders I should be ok.  I should be able to live a pretty normal life again.  How long a person with a transplant can live until they need another is no exact science yet but here is a case of one man that brings lots of hope read about it here.

I want to thank my brother first and foremost for putt in himself “up” as my exchange donor.  Although I actually had a real signed up and verified offer of a kidney from (someone I know only from Second Life who wishes to stay anonymous and I’m waiting for and trying to talk this person in to letting me tell their story)  my brother felt it was his duty as my closest living relative to be my donor eve if it was an exchange and I would not get his actual kidney.  My brother is a 747 Capt for a major US commercial carrier.  The  most important things in his life are his family and flying.   He surely wont be flying any airplanes for the next five or six weeks and I know that drives him nuts but he did it for me. This gets deeper now..the airline (not the FAA)  told him if he donated a kidney he would put himself into a health category that would prevent him from working for them  as a pilot anymore.  In order to be my donor and still fly commercially he had to retire from the airline hes been with for over 15 years.  However after he uses up all his sick and holiday pay,  hes going to sign on with a foreign carrier and will be flying again.   He also made sure to bring the 4 of us in the exchange ..together so we could have the side by side surgeries which are obviously the best way a person can receive a transplant.  Right now as I type this he is making arrangements for the other two parties to be med-flight relocated back to their home city to finish recovering near their families.  Thank you and a million I love you’s and hugs.. “Skippy” < nickname my parents used to call him.  Also thank you to his wife  my sister n law and kids Niece and Nephew who have had to endure the changes and drama over the past week and weeks to come.

Thank you to the Drs.. Medical staff and hospital staff who have done an incredible job and worked tirelessly to make sure everyone got the best possible treatment and outcome.  For my personal privacy I wont mention the Hospital name until after I go home.

Friends and Family who have been there for me (including the friends from Twitter and Second Life) There is a real person behind each avatar.

First let me say that this fortunate event about to happen to me in no way changes my opinion or passions stated in 1st Life Post a few weeks ago.    Not much time so I must keep it short, wanted to tell those of you who hadn’t heard..A few weeks ago I found out about got into a program like this  (with my Brother who wanted to Donor but is not a match for me) http://transplants.ucla.edu/body.cfm?id=112&oTopID=34 .  If you take a quick look youll understand how it works.  Basically my Brother will be exchange kidney with a match for me and be giving his to a patient who also has a donor that  doesn’t match them  but matches me.   All 4 matches and agreement and arrangements t0 exchange were made this past Tuesday the 17th ! So I have a  high  match type Donor.  Monday is surgery.

In  a little while I will get to meet this “Living Donor” and thank her beforehand for what she is doing.. for me and her loved one.   I cant imagine the emotions were all going to feel.. I’m overwhelmed thinking about it now.  I have 6 family members with  me now and I’m ready for this.. My brother says No big deal for him just a little slice  here and there and hes done.  I could be there 3 days or 3 weeks.. dont know yet.. but hope my body doesnt reject and its not  too long .  Tracey made a twitter update thing cause I was asking her to use mine to update you  guys and she didnt want to so here it is.. DWkidneyupdate.  I hope she doesnt tweet you  too much.

Along the way Dexter found the time to learn the arts of sound engineering and record production. Producing a ..1 hit in the process. But it is in his songwriting that he truly captures hearts.

Hes shared the bill with artists  like AC/DC, Crowded House and the plethora of other Australian greats now Dexter Ihnen Morph comes to Live n Kickin to share a performance with you.  Not just your everyday performance either.. Dexter has assembled a Second Life team of 10 including Special Effects Tech, Choreographer and of course the “Dexcellorator Dancers!”  For more about Dexter you can read an interview I did several months ago with  him on Second Life Newspaper here.

As far as I  know so far the biggest project of its kind ever done on SL, it took months of working, building,creating, rehearsing and animating.  I understand it was Debbie Trillling’s idea  to do a re-make of  METROPOLIS the first science fiction movie made in 1927 by Fritz Lang, Velazquez Bonetto and Josina Burgess and NMC CARP TEAM joined Debbie to bring it to Second Life.

Above is a clip of Fritz Lang’s Metropolis  you will be amazed at how true to the film the Second Life producers have been at the same time using the advantages of Second life to script in seating which takes you thru the set in ways that would hardly be possible in RL

I don’t know how long the show will run this time ( maybe check comments Ill try and get one of them to fill in)  but I can tell you video doesn’t do it justice  its  must see in Second Life.
